Welcome

Laxman Ahire born in 1985, he comes from a very small village Chandwad from the Nashik district, Maharashtra. He received BFA (Bachelors in fine art) degree from Sir J.J.School of Art, Mumbai in 2012. His early journey in art practice began with the realistic style of the traditional Bombay Schooling, after which he started to express his understanding, observation and experiences about social and political  surroundings from his humanitarian angle through his art.

One discovers aspects of the self in relation to their surroundings and this revelation impacts the very sensibility of the person. Artist Laxman Ahire creates his art vocabulary by revisiting astute observations and numerous experiences which constitute his life. Ahire poses uncomfortable questions through his works aimed to better his understanding of himself and others as social, cultural, political, religious and individual entities. He denies any form of violence in society with rejecting the discrimination on the basis of caste, religion and gender; and in such a yoke, the brain stuck in the fence; he presents it to the people.

Ahire puts himself as a metaphor in all the places in his expression and indicates the change what he wants to see in his surroundings should primarily reflect in ourselves first; it can also be a kind of mirror where one can replace themselves to see what artists desire from society as a human being. The work holds a mirror up to the viewers and presents a salve to the tormented sensibilities of the Anthropocene human.
